REVIEWS: A Little Of Your Time
“After reading Mitch Lits’ first book, ‘A Little of Your Time’, I immediately purchased several copies for our high school library media collection. His unique style of integrating historical fiction into a contemporary setting with richly developed teen characters served both the interests of our young readers and teachers alike.
Our students related to the vivid scenes of young people facing precarious situations and having to make difficult decisions. Our teachers latched on to the historical components of the story using it as an extension for lessons on Native American and European Explorers.
‘A Little of Your Time’ is not just a riveting coming-of-age action story, but also a tale of heart-felt emotion, touching on universal themes such as love, trust, and loyalty making it a great book for readers of all ages. I look forward to reading more from this fine author!”

“The author has done a fine job presenting a feisty, strong female character in Lorelei. I also think the author’s description is quite good—‘station wagons wheezing’ etc. The description on page 62 alone is enough to chew on for a week. The author has a nice literary style. Nicely done. The author is very good with dialogue, too, which is crucial since there is so much of it in this book. The book is quite graphic—like Steven King meets Harry Potter. It’s a bit too adult for middle readers in my opinion, but very interesting.”

“Mitch Lits weaves a fast-paced tale of mystery, history, and obsession. Two everyday teens must battle a frightening entity of savage darkness for their very survival. This is a compelling, quick-paced fiction teens will embrace and enjoy.”

“A Little of Your Time is an exciting debut from first time novelist Mitch Lits. With great facility he’s created a magical, fictional world that will hold teen readers attention until the very last page. Furthermore, his story is positive, inclusive multi-culturally, and has adult characters who aren’t ‘bad guys’, but who mentor their teens. Expect great things from Mitch Lits; his passion for the young-adult genre shows on every page.” —Michelle Smith/Librarian/Horace W. “Wow, this book was excellent. After I got into it, I couldn’t put it down and read for 3 hours. I would recommend ‘A Little of Your Time’ for all teen and adult readers. Reading this book is NOT a waste of your time.” —Lily Siegel, high school student.
________________________________ BOOK REVIEW: A LITTLE OF YOUR TIME Mitch Lits’ "A Little of Your Time" is aptly titled, as, depending on an individual's reading speed, it takes as little as one second, the time required to read the first sentence, to ensnare the reader: “One hundred sixty-nine years was too long to stay in one place.”
From that beginning, Mitch’s characters quickly become personal acquaintances. They are fully rounded in both their areas of expertise and areas in which they are still growing. Martial Arts play a pivotal role, but do not entirely define a characters. Their emotions, conversation, and actions do that. The time thief intrigues the reader when he steals years from whomever he wishes.
Plots and subplots are cleverly interwoven and transitions are so smooth the reader moves with the story, never aware of the hand behind the words. The tempo swirls from the wholesome earthiness of youth to heights of clear intelligence. Lits draws his stories on the page as Monet might paint a lovely mystic scene.
This is an accomplished author whose writing is seamless. Set aside “a little of your time” to enjoy this book at one sitting as you won’t be able to leave it for very long.
If this book has a fault, it is that it leaves the reader hungry for more.
